I am looking at purchasing a UV light unit to kill bacteria in my sap. I was looking at a water UV light on Ebay for $220 and is a 10 gallon per minute unit. I would only be feeding it about 7 g/m.Would this unit effectively sterilize my sap? If not, does anyone have any suggestions of where and what to buy?

i use a 10 gpm water light on the outlet side of my ro, it works well. i originaly tried it on the inlet side as they say you should do, and unfourtanatly it kept leaking air under suction so i decided to hook it to the concentrate out side rather than just stop using it all entirely, i was very pleased with the results, kept my concentrate clear and tank clean even later in the season. it did make lighter syrup as well, not alot but definatly a noticable color difference when using it

this place makes them right here in my town but not sure if they retail. I have been told there units have been used in our industry.

The use of UV lights to kill bacteria in sap has been going on for years. Seams like every now and then interest picks up then dies back down. It takes a really good unit to work well on sap compared to water. Uv light does not penetrate sap nearly as well as water. To be effective only a thin layer of sap can pass over the lens/ tube compared with water. If I remember UVM Proctor Maple has research on UV lights. The units for aquariums and water gardens are not the right models. If I remember when I looked into using on years ago the ones that would work on sap were at least $300-600 each.
