View Full Version : Lapierre releaser set-up questions
1. Does the o-ring in the pic need lubricated when installing the manifold onto the releaser?
2. I assume that I can use regular pvc cement at the vacuum connection at the top? Its sch 40 pvc.

Put a very little bit of food grade grease on there. You won't need much at all. You want to keep the o ring from tearing or getting twisted as it is being slipped into the lower part.
Did you get one of the new releasers?
Dennis its a new 24" electric releaser. Can I use some kind of cooking spray like Pam or canola oil?

We use food grade grease only on our rings for our CV releaser. I don't think Pam or canola oil will have the same performance.
Here's a video on maintenance.

Thanks Ive watched that video but not much of it applies to my releaser.
What about a small amount of food grade mineral oil?
I asked my local dealer for some food grade grease. He told me I had some at home in the kitchen cupboard. Crisco, that is what I have used on that same o-ring on mine for several years.

You need to use silicone Grease. Food grade grease will gum up after a week or two on the moving parts of the releaser and it will not dump properly. The grease can be order from bascom maple farm or the mapel guys web site.

I agree if you need to lube a non-moving part crisco will work fine but never use crisco on the float rod. But as you have said it is an electric releaser so you are good to go.
If you need to know there is a very light weight food grade oil that you can get that is what you want to use on the moving pieces.

Be careful using crisco in the bush, the tree rats love it. Wash it off your hands before handling any tubing. I use the little packages of silicone for the end caps on the ro

Heus, another thing, look over your float real good. I've got one like yours and my float came cracked. My dealer said that was the second one he dealt with. Lost sap waiting, new one not in stock. Just saying.
Thanks for the heads up I will check it out. This was actually just made on Monday. Thanks to Bud Bowers at Brookfield Maple for setting me up with this releaser at a great price.
