Sap Ladders Questions

I was wondering how tall can I have a sap ladder and if you can have more than 1 sap ladder in a lateral line ???
What is the rule on how many stars should ???

You can produce any lift you want--provided you have enuf pumping capacity at the top of the ladder. You cannot have more than 33 feet of sap in the ladder. All volume in excess of that must be air or tree gas distributed through the sap. For an ideal ladder, the vacuum loss is approximately equal to the height of the liquid column in the ladder. If you are lifting 10 feet and the quantities of gas and sap are equal, you will loose at least 5 inches of mercury (five feet of water). In a real ladder, friction loss and slippage (gas moving faster than the sap) will cause the vacuum loss to be larger or the required fraction of gas to be larger. Again, the pumping capacity at the top of the ladder must be large enuf to pull the required vacuum.

You can have any number of ladders chained together provided the required vacuum and gas quantity are provided.. It will be slightly better to use one high lift rather than several smaller lifts. The elbows at each end of the ladder produce friction losses.

I'm using a 2 Diaphragm pump hoping to add 2 separate sap ladders...
The first one will only be a couple feet.
The second will be 10'-12' tall bringing an entire section of the woods over a hill...

Correct me if i am wrong but I dont think a sap lift works with a diaphragm vacuum pump.

Diaphram pumps will only pump up 2 to 3 feet max they
Have very little vacuum they are more or less design
To push a long ways. If your system is really tight you might
Get 5 to 8 inches of vacuum. When i get caught up ill
Stop over and see if i can give you some advice. I know that pump
Will never suck up 8 to 10 feet.

I have seen a diaphragm pump on a tight system running 15"

But never at the end of the main line wich is what i
Go buy. I have used these pumps and i know what they are
Capable of but they were #3. I upgraded them to high vac.

I can't disagree. What I saw was at the pump. I would be leery about hitching to a ladder because of low cfm.
