I have now added another bulk tank, or soon to be, to my bulk tank collection. I have a 600gal that is not at sugarhouse yet, still need to get it, now I am buying a 300 gal bulk tank that is round. It is about 5ft across and 3ft tall. I will be using it as my head tank.
Question is, what do you all use to elevate these tanks, and how did you build your stands for something that will weigh over a ton when full? Right now, we are looking at putting it ontop of railroad ties, stacked and criscrossed. Anybody have pics that they want to post and share of their stands and tanks?

I've got a 400 gal. Girton on a platform. I'm using it as a head tank. You guys are welcome to stop over and take a look, or PM me your email, and I'll send a couple of pics.

I built one out of rough cut hemlock. Very strong. If you have a smaller saw mill near you they can cut to your specs and is usually very reasonable. I don't have any pics of mine

My head tank is 300 gal also, the stand is 6x6's at each corner, with 2x10's notched into the 6bys along the top, the feet rest on the 2x10s, bolted in place, with about 2' of platform at each end to stand on to wash from. Used this set up for the last 7 years with no problems.

I am using 4X4s in the corners and two in the middle holding up a 725 gal poly tank for my head tank, no problems, the 4X4s are set in the ground 3 feet. using 2x6s as cross supports inbetween all 4x4s with 2x6s boxing in around the bottom near ground level the top of the deck is 6 foot off the ground. very stable so far with a close to full tank.

We have a 4 tanks that total about 1,800 gallons on a second story above our RO room and Vacuum and releaser rooms. They are on a 1" board floor on 12" joists on 16" centers sitting on 4" stud walls. Works fine.

we put 6 by 6 larch post 3 foot in the ground and put and built a platform out of 4 by 6 larch works great and will last forever the only problem we ran into was that it sheared the nails for the bottom tank but was no big deal they are both 500 gallon tanks and the bottom is a heavy zero tank6179

Believe it or not i buried my main storage tank
An 8500 gallon milk tanker axles and all then
poured concrete over the top and part of the sap house
On top of that. I wish i had another one just like this
Out of site and out of mind. Makes for a good tornado
Shelter to if we had those kinds of storm.
