This year, I'm moving my little hobby rig indoors. It has a 6" pipe. Hopefully by next season, I'll be upgraded to a 2x6 or 2.5 x8. What size stovepipes are you guys running on these evaporators? I only want to buy pipe once. Opinions?

My old 2x3 half pint had 6". My 2x4 has 8". I'd have to go dig through old material in the basement to find other sizes, but I'm sure other will chime in. You can also look on Bascoms web page or Leader and see. Look at base stacks and see the various pipe diameters for different arch widths.

Being an HVAC guy, I size vent pipes by BTU input. I deal with natural and Lp gas. I don't work with fireplaces. Now I also have a half pint arch (modified). The stock size on that rig is 6''. Now I have extended the arch to a 2x8.5 and didn't change the flue size. It worked just fine. I think it has to do with the size of the fire box. The bigger, the more btu's you will burn, the flue size would need to get larger.

On my home made 2X6 i ran it with 8" and it wasent enough, but 8" is the biggest you can buy at lowes or home depot ect. my new CDL 2.5X8 says its 11" but when i measured it the I.D. is 12"........ so if you plan on building a home made rig 2X6 i would buy 10" or if its a 2.5X8 12". If you buy a manufactured rig it should come with a base stack and twice the length of the evaporator in pipe.
