Insulating arch cheaply?

Any other materials to insulate an arch cheaper than ceramic blanket?

I guess you need to define cheap. I bought my ceramic blanket online and I thought it was a decent price. but I have a 2x6 so it would depend on the size of your arch.. There is a huge difference in an arch that is property insulated compared to one that is not. Having seen my arch run for several years before I purchased it, the sides would get blazing hot..once I insulated it, I can hold my hand on the side of the arch no problem. I built a 2x6 275gal. Drum arch and don't want to sink much more money into it this year. Probably blanket it next year though.

get some sort of insulation for the oil tank arch, i didnt insulate me last year and couldnt even stand next to it with out getting burned

maybe you cna use standard fiberglass insulation on the outside of the tank?

i think standard fiberglass house insulation is good to about 400deg.

I used the insulation that is inside swimming pool heaters ,it's about 1 1/2 thick and worked good.

Yeah, I meant adding to the outside of the arch, just to protect from getting burned. Should work.

I use to buy insulated ceiling tiles and take the plastic off and use that for arch insulation and it worked well. Never had a problem with it melting on me as long as it was covered. going to use arch board this year with the new to us 2x6
