I am considering running a line that will run ruffly a 1000 ft into the woods but will have no more then 75 taps on it. The reason behind my thinking is when the frost is coming out I have a heck of a time getting the sap to the field edge, I can go in the woods on a trail but it tares up the ground so bad and chance of getting stuck and dealing with the mud, I don't need my sap or equipment full of mud. My concerns are, what size of main line would work best? how much grade dose a person need before a pump is considered? how bad do line freeze up if sap is still in the lines? and if a pump is required what size of pump would be needed?

My first question.. Is it up hill or down?

There isn't much of a grade, but it would be down hill.

If 75 is the max then I would just use 1/2, easy to handle. You wont need much more than 1-2% grade, freeze up is no problem because it will thaw out before trees start running the next time, pump size for 75 taps, pretty darn small will do it.
