Need to find a valve/cap for it. 1 1/2 inch npt is a touch to small and the threads are not corse enough. Found an old fire hose fitting today that almost threads on but threads still to fine. Any clues as to where to search? Just bought the tank and thought was a bargain until the search for the missing valve came into play

Bulk tanks have whats called sanitary fittings/threads on them. Not sold at the local hardware store, lol. Try online at St. Patricks of Texas- a fellow producer told me about that site. Or Ellsworth, although their prices may be higher. Or do you have a dairy supply near you? If so, try there. I put adaptors on mine that went from the sanitary thread to NPT pipe thread, which is sold in your local hardware store! Good luck.

Try this guy. He deals in used Dairy equipment like bulk tanks and other farm equipment.
Claud Morin CJM Farm Equipement in Derby Line, VT 802-895-4159. There is a good chance he would have the valve you are looking for or an adaptor.

you can make a stainless sanitary to stainless NPT adapter with parts from buyfittingsonline.com or McMaster-Carr and a welder. I ordered the parts for 4 adapters and had my welder do the work and my cost was about $22 a piece. Converts to a 1" NPT. Was tired of the leaky fernco fittings.
