Do you have any pictures of the completed sugarhouse? Maybe some of the inside? I am going to build a 12X20 it looks like and I am curious as to the room you have in yours if you feel it is enough?

Dave, The sugarhouse thats in my picture is 12x24' not including the woodshed. I built it to contain a 2.5x10 evaporator. If you're not planning on getting much bigger than a 2'x4' then it should work well provided you dont stack all your wood in it. It has an 8' counter top in it and theres plenty of space to move around. I even had a cot and small tv in there for the late nights but I did'nt get much time to use them. Dont know what I was thinking. How big are you planning on getting? RO in the future? You'll need tank space if you do. Maybe build it tall with room for a future loft.

Thanks Sean...I just put in an order for a 2x6. An RO is definitely in my future, maybe not this year but definitely by next year. I am also thinking I would like a couch for visitors and a counter to do my canning. My wood would be kept outside except for what I bring in for that nights boiling. I feel much better going with a 12x20 than a 12x16 since I have the space for it anyway. I think your idea for a loft is a good one. Thanks!

Dave,
I have a 12'x 20' sugarhouse with a 2'x 6' evaporator if you would like to stop by and take a look. I also have a HERO RO for sale, as I upgraded to a larger machine this year. Give me a call 860-349-6806.

Fourteen feet wide is a good dimension. It can be a little tight if you have more than one person moving around in a twelve foot building. At some point in the evening, everything is hot in every direction, and you don't need to trip over anyone while carrying a bucket of syrup.
