This will be my 3rd year boiling on my own. Each year I have more then doubled my tap count. This season if we have a decent year I will be flooded with sap. My rig can only handle 150 taps and this season I could push 300 plus. What I'm trying to figure out is what I should do with my extra sap? Sell raw sap or possibly a small 100 or so GPH R.O. To condense my sap down be able to boil it. What do you think would be a better choice?

Several things to consider here. Do you have a local market for raw sap? Can you afford/justify the cost of a RO setup? it basically all comes down to dollars and sense.

if you can afford an RO i would get it, just get the right size, if not just boil as long as it takes to boil the sap. i know someone who has done 800 taps on a 2x6 for a couple years

You can build a small RO pretty cheap, less than $1000. I know several that have been done. We are building one for my nephew pretty soon he will go from 400 to 800 taps.

Thad-Any more detail on building small ROs? I have been looking into this and I am wondering where you are sourcing parts.
