I have recently acquired a n unused reverse osmosis system. The bid on it and won. It has everything tou can think of, all highest grade parts as it was from a hospital. All s/s braided cable, two membrane canisters. The kicker is it came with a uv light treatment system as well. I was going to use it for my maple operation but i feel is too big. I would not have enough sap and dont have more trees to tap. So I am thinking of selling it. The place i bought it from paid $30,000 just for the ro. Whats a reasonable asking price? Thanks for any help.

You are not providing any where near enough info to give a "what its worth" guess. Biggest problem would be that I dont believe that it will have any type of recirc pumps on it, also you will probably find that it is 3 phase power. Also what size are the membranes? Pictures, make and model.

Both units are us filter/siemens water technologies model number mrorx02bx. 10800 gals per day capacity. The pump is 3 phase. Definitely heavy duty. I dont know the uv light treatment system model number. I pick up both next week.

Being 3 phase it will not be worth as much for sure...... doubt that it has circ pumps.... curious to see some pics though

what size are the membrane housings? typically they hold a 4" or 8" membrane.

if you want to sell it, I can connect you with an outfit in NH that reconditions hospital and process water ROs. They might be able to give you a better sense of what it is worth.

I bought a Coster 14 membrane ro last year at a power plant auction and sold it on a web site called bidonequipment.com they took a small cut for selling it but it sold for 3 times what I paid for it. Then I sold the 9 new membranes on ebay for 100.00 each for some 4x40.

I' m pretty sure the membranes are 4x40. Two of them.

Doing the math, 10800/24 hrs is 450 GPH, but that is water. I think there will be a correction factor for sap, but maybe not. This might be a 900 GPH or maybe slightly less. The pumps are the question, also, what membranes? If pressure, what is the pressure spec?
A lack of recirculating pumps can be dealt with, but anyone looking for that size might not want to need to.

So i might be able to get $5for it?

How big is the high pressure pump? But still being 3 phase kills the value as everyone uses single phase.... I am the only sugarmaker I know that uses 3 phase. And love it by the way.

there are more sugarmakers using 3 phase then you might think. atleast in southern vermont.

I use a three phase converter for my Bush vacuum pump and have had no problem with it! Knock on wood! JimL.

Peterbourogh NH 603-924-4008 Skip was the guy I spoke to 3 or 4 years ago. They repair and upgrade medical and process ROs.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will get pics asap, but assuming this is a top notch RO, with the info as stated below, ($30k purchase price by hospital) can somone please make a guess (i won't hold them to it) what kind of value range as it sits, 1k,5k,10k+? A friend that is familiar with the unit told me that the pump alone could easily fetch $1000 alone on ebay. I will most likely throw in the uv light treatment system as well. Thanks.

Siemens rx series RO, unused
2 membranes (4x40 I think)
10800 gal day (possibly 900 gal hr for sugar)
evey part is top of the line (hoses to flow meters)

Is the power source 208 volts, or 460? what size hp motor on the hp pump?

Looking at a standard spec sheet, pretty sure it is a 480v and the booster pump is 3hp. 6037 this is a stock photo. It Has two membrane canisters.

Problem will be that no one can use it..... If a sugarmaker is 3 phase he will be large enough that this would not even be effective, or it will be the wrong power anyway.... I am 208.

Nice looking RO though
