A couple of inches of rain water got into two plastic 55 gal. barrels (yes they are food grade) that I'd like to use for sap. A ring of mostly green, some orange algae/crud formed where the top of the water was. These barrels have the two bung openings at the top and my pressure washer wand can't reach down far enough at a good angle to spray it off. The gunk it can reach comes off easily.
Will a soak in a light bleach solution kill anything still living and soften it enough to spray off? Any advice is welcome.
