I am looking for a good stainless 3 way 1/2" L type valve for my filter press. Currently only have a "T" fitting there and I manually block the outlet in to the filter press side of things and open up the bypass route.

Looking at valves I found this one- http://www.homebrewing.org/3-Way-Stainless-Steel-12-Ball-Valve-_p_2765.html

what type or brand of valves do you guys have on your presses?

-thanks-

Eric

This style valve will work just fine however the valve on you link is for a sure a Chinese cheapy and there is no information regarding the pressure or temp rating or what the material of the body, ball or seat is. For the money a Bronze valve with PTFE Seats from Apollo (# 7060301) is a way better choice(see link to Grainger below). Its a high quality valve made in america that is rated for both the temp and pressure of your application for $25. The Apollo ss version of this is $125...which really makes you wonder how the chinese valve costs only $35 thus if you really want quality and not just shine buy quality properly engineered stuff from reputable sources. I could go on for hours about cheap Chinese valves, they are a continuously a thorn in my side as they fail and rot and leak and always at the worst moment! Stepping off my high horse, a 1/2" 3 way ball valve will do the job you want done with no mess or blocking ports and is regularly supplied on new filter presses so you can use them for syrup transfer with no plumbing mods.
