thickness of end caps on a home made releaser

I am thinking about building my own releaser and was wondering how thick of a sheet of plexiglass or lexan I should use?

I think its 1/2 inch. or just shy of it anyway.

at least 1/2", thats what i was told to get for mine, and the friends who told me that had tried thinner and it sucked it in

It would also depend on the diameter of the chamber.

I use 1/4" plexi on the the 3 and 4" pvc vac chambers I made for my Bender releasers.
On the 3" ones there was no noticiable flexing when the vac is on, now the 4" one there was just a slight inward flex, maybe about 1/16"

So on soemthing the size you are talking I would go as thick as possible.

I was planning on using 12 inch PVC pipe. I was also wondering what is better schedule 40 or schedule 80.

At 12" you might need thicker than 1/2". Schedule 80 is better, by far, but I don't know if it is necessary. Since a failure during the season would not be good, my guess is go 80.

if its 12" you might want to go to 11/16" or even 3/4"

Also depends upon how many holes you plan to drill in it and where they are located.

I was planing on two. One for vacuum and an other for the float rod. The one for vacuum in the center of the cover and another for the float rod somewhere towards the front of the cover.

I used 1/2" lexan on mine. It is on a 8" pipe. works fine.

your gonna need at least half inch for the lexan, 1/4" wont work
