This damage occurred in the Hudson Valley on Monday 10/29/2012.
The tanks are brand new and were planed for field collection.

:( What a sad sight. Sorry for your loss, hope that was worst of your damages, although think you'll have a lot of chainsaw work to do to get ready for sugaring season.

figures it was an OAK that crushed the tanks....

I would still use them. Looks like 4400 instead of 5000 gal. I haven't had a chance to get into my woods yet. However the storm is still 24 hours from passing through here.

That's a good sized oak. I'm surprised that it didn't flatten those tanks right to the ground. If they were mine I would use a hydraulic porta power and do some strrrrretching back into useable condition.

If they were mine i would have left them at my house and put them in the bush a day before i tapped, no sense in letting storms and scrappers have their way with them.

In any case, sorry for your lose delivron...hopefully you have the means to straighten or replace.

yes you should store your tanks in the middle of a hay field for the summer so there is no chance of a tree falling on them i bet this is what FDA does with his just mo around them :lol: That sucks about your tanks delevron it hurts my sole just looking at them.

Knowing Andy, My thoughts are that the tanks were owned by a Lapierre customer and not his tanks.

Wow - that realy sucks! Enough to make enough the toughest syrup producer shed a few tears! Hopefully the guys has insurance to cover it.

Sometimes the Oaks just get Jelous!!!

Being FEMA declared NYS a state of disaster,there might be some coverage from them for your damages.They covered some of the sugaring damage in 98 from the ice storm.I would check into it.
