so many different saddles to choose from...putting 3500 taps in this month...have looked at all the different ones and have been leaning towards the new H2O innovations saddles...anyone have any experience with them?...I like the idea of the pop in piece...sealing both from the inside and the outside at the same time...and the price is right..$1.79 each versus $2.50 ish...hmmmmmm
I can't say that I tried them all but I did install 1000 super saddles (Brannon style) last year and never had a leak. My friend uses the CDL saddle and say's they work great also. Whatever you choose to use I would still use wire ties on them also. The H2O saddles have that annoying sharp screw that you will either loose or stab yourself with unless they changed the style.

In the past I used the CDL style that the barbed end swivels. I think there is a potential for vacuum leaks at this point and this is a difficult place to try and detect a leak. This year on the new woods, I switched to the CDL style with the fixed barbed end. One less place for a leak. I agree, put a wire tie on either side to help clamp it to the mainline. I also started puting a wire tie around the bottom of the fitting to help draw the fitting together and help prevent it from possibly coming undone off of the mainline.

the lapierre "brandon saddle" is really nice. the whole in it is bigger then any other saddle that ive seen. the gasket doesnt go down in the mainline so ice can just go though and not jam up at the saddle.

We only used the Eratube universal saddles on a new install last year. The singles worked very well. We also put in doubles and though they did not leak, I could stand there and watch one side run and the other not. We are done with doubles --- why they even make them is beyond me.

I like Darveau's saddles. They're simple and work. They cost about $2.50 from Windswept Maples.

We started using the Quick Seal Mainline Entrance Fitting last year. It was easy to install on the main line and the lateral lines went on east. They worked great and no leaks.
