Just saw on NECN that 32 gallons of syrup was stolen from a Baltimore, Vt. sugarhouse. Might be time to lock the sugarhouse for the first time in 20 years.

i live 40 minutes north. 3 weeks ago my house was broken into. i do all my canning ang jugging in my basement. they did not take any syrup. but took digital themometer, i-pad i used for square. cd,s and all the jewelery they could find. all my guns. but no cash. was change and a few dollars on counter.still finding things missing. when the state police were here they told me syrup is not easy to get rid of. that is why they did not take any. and i had just finished jugging 160 gallons of syrup.so plenty of all sizes.i now have game camaras placed around house and sugar house to see who is comming around.and i am now locking my sugar house.

sorry to hear about the break in Maplecrest. Doesn't matter where you live in the state, we're all experiencing the same issue of individuals looking to make an easy buck instead of looking to make a living. We enjoy having friends/neighbors stop by but we're considering putting a gate on the road to thwart off any potential thieves.

Geez sorry to hear about that. I know what its like to have stuff stolen. It really kills ya. At the moment we don't have any serial robberies or anything going on right now but we did a few years ago. Right across the street too. We started locking the doors to the house after that. scary stuff.

Actually been thinking about ADT or some sort of alarm system on the house. Especially with houses getting broken into at night when people are slepping.
