VERMONT MAPLE SUGAR MAKERS' ASSOCIATION HIRES FIRST EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
September 14, 2012
VERMONT --- The nation's oldest agricultural organization, the Vermont Maple Sugar Makers' Association has hired their first Executive Director, Matthew Gordon. Gordon comes to the VMSMA from the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers' Association where he served as the Manager of Agricultural and Economic Development.
The hiring of an executive director is the final phase in a multi-year restructuring for the VMSMA. Earlier this year the VMSMA successfully merged with the Vermont Maple Foundation and Vermont Maple Industry Council to become a single organization.
"We're excited to have Matt join us as our Executive Director," says, Jacques Couture, Chair of the Board of Directors for the VMSMA. "This is a big transition for us and we're pleased to have found in Matt someone who understands specialty products like maple and a special place like Vermont."
As Executive Director, Gordon will work closely with VMSMA's Executive Committee, being responsible for the overall management and day to day operations of the organization. Gordon officially starts in his new position for the VMSMA on November 1.
