What size and kind of tank does everyone use? plastic/galvanized/stainless, what size and is it inside or outside of the house? How about the height from the outlet to the feed on the pan?

I use 2 275 gallon poly tanks with a mainline coming from each side of the mtn.I have them connected at the valves with a y connector so when I open them both they even out and I dont over flow. That runs into the sugarhouse to a 30 gallon plastic tank that feeds my float box.its about 10 inches higher than the floatbox,I watch my bulk tanks and when the flow from them is done I have 30 gallons of sap left so I can stop firing the arch for the cool down .Hope it helps ,Al

we have a 1,200 gallon SS tank feeding our evaporator, inside the sugarhouse. We have the feed into the evaporator about 12 inches higher then the float box.

We have a 120 gal lapierre round bottom stainless tank feeding our evaporator. Positioned inside the sugarhouse. It used to be perfect when our evap only did 50 gph, but is a little small now that we do closer to 100 gph. It is about 7 or 8 inches above the inlet on the float box.

We have a 112 gal. square SS tank inside the sugar house. It's about 8-10 inches above the pre heater outlet. It gets filled just before boiling and emptied at every boil. Entire top is covered with a lid. Easy to clean.

I have a 300 gal stainless tank inside, been there since before we got the RO. The outlet is probably 3 feet above the float box. Now that we RO, I never have much more than 30 gallons of concentrate in it, then matching the RO ouput to the evaporator. Eventually I'll replace it with an 80 or so gallon stainless to free up storage space for other stuff.
