I just thought of this last night,

We put vaccum on the maple tree to increase internal pressure in the tree to better match the atmopheric pressure. Right?

Now, What if we would drill a hole in the tree and fasten an air hose there from an air compressor and have like 90 psi going into the tree? And then tap as usual, you would be putting another hole in the tree but maybe we could get twice as much sap from that tap. I don't know if I am thinking backwards or not but just brainstorming for the 2 trees in the front yard:) I would love to hear your thoughts on this! Samuel

I really don't think this would work. Mother nature does a lot better pressurizing a tree to release the sap vs a single point of entry from an air compressor. Also if you think your costs are high for tubing all that 90 PSI hose and specialized fittings would really add significantly to your cost.
