I have a Babson sp-22 vacum pump but no motor. What rpms does the sp-22 need to run at? and what rpms would the motor need to run at to acheive the required rpms on the pump?

Thanks in advance

The SP's like to be run at low rpm's.
They should be run at about 480 rpm's

The slower the better. The surge chat reccomends a 3 1/2 inch pulley on the motor and a 14" pulley on the pump head. this is for a 1.5 hp electric motor. Are you planning on running it with a gas or electric motor?

I have had the best luck using a very small motor pulley- like 2" or 3", and running the gas motor just above idel. with it turning so slow you can use the vacuum regulator to pinch it down and run respectable vacuum (22-23") without over heating the pump.
