Those of you that store syrup through the year, what have you found to be the maximum temperature to store syrup without it being sealed? I want to be able to open a drum and draw from it as I need it. Is 40F good enough? I love the cool bot, I like the idea. At 37F it will cost $1/day. But at 40F it will cost $0.50/day. You can see why it would be an advantage to know the maximum temp to store syrup, MONEY!

I run mine at 42 and have not had a problem. I use syrup for candy over a extended time with no issues. I have a 8'x8' cooler and had 1000 gallon of syrup in it most of the summer. My electric bill averaged $75 a month with most of that being the cooler.

Having seen your cooler, the next question is how do you stack 40 gallon drums safely?

I rigged up a crank hoist with a pulley in the ceiling. Make sure it is one that holds tension both ways. My barrels are 30 and 33 gallon. I just crank them up and roll 1 under or when I get them on top slide around where I want them. I loaded my cooler all alone this year with no problem. My hoist is a 1500# one I got from northern tool. I plan on getting 2 more to lift my steamaway only 800# size.
