Hi, looking for the size of wire that everyone uses to hang their mainline on. The majority of the mainline is 3/4". I bought a roll of 14 gauge galvanized wire but it seems like it might not be heavy enough? Thanks.
12.5 gauge wire is the most popular. You can buy it at Tractor Supply for $99.00 for a 4000 foot role.

hey the stuff at TSC is "aluminized" High tensile wire 12.5 gauge. they also sell the ratched tighteners and the brake unroller thing for pretty cheap too. the 14 gauge wire is good for side ties beacuse it will break easier when a branch or tree falls on it. Its easier to re-attach a side tie than fix a main line wire.

I purchased some 9 ga. galv. wire for my mainline (3/4"). 800' for $62.00. Might be costly, but good heavy wire.

I looked at that stuff thats what everyone used to use. but it looks heavy and well hard to use. its a bit overkill in my opinion.

Exactly. for 1.5 pipe run 2 wires or get cable.
9 ga is just too heavy, mean to work with, and way too expensive.
