Has any one tried to push the sweet out of there ro with compressed air? I think it would save a lot energy. You would not have to boil the diluted concentrate. Would the compressed air hurt the membraines?

I see that Darveau has incorporated that thought into their new machines. Or whoever Darveau is selling Ro's for. It must work, just don't know the details.

What a great idea! I wonder how it's done, and if an RO can be retrofitted.

The compressed air saves lots of time/energy in all aspects of the RO'ing process...pushing permeate out when starting up, pushing sweet out when starting a refresh, pushing the perm. out when switching back to conc., and so on and so forth. I'm surprised it took a manufacturer this long to figure out an alternative method...glad they did though.

Memprotec is the company that has the "air flush" system. it works very well and leaves very little sugar in the membranes.Saves time and permeate.

the dealer for memprotec is Darveau, a small canadian maple equipment dealer. the owner, stephan, is a very nice person to deal with and has several dealers in the US.

Eric, you were there. Larry Moore's a dealer.

Darveau makes nice tanks. Aluminum tube framed which makes them nice and light. My 4'x12'x3' tank I bought last year was easily off loaded and set in place by two people.

Use "Air Flush"system for it.It work very well. And the most important thing is that leaves very little sugar in the membranes as well as saves time.

How do you prevent contamination from the compressor? Do you use bottled nitrogen or something? Is a filter available to prevent oil, bad water or another contaminant for entering the RO? I actually have a food grade nitrogen tank, it needs refilling, but that might be the answer.
