It has settled to a thin line of thick white substance, about a qtr of the first picture... syrup tastes great

This is what happens when you mix Vermont syrup with any other states syrup. :lol::lol:

Most likely it is sugarsand (niter). How did you filter the syrup?

Yeah, I admit I filtered through paper towels... first time sugar'er last season

Just heat and filter using a proper filter. Don't wait too long or you could get a niter off-flavor (kind of a bite).
