I have been soaking pans in sap turned vinager everything is cleaning well except sugar sand and places that were not soaking . What can I use for cleaning? When I was on the farm we used acid to clean the stainless that we used in the milking system. Seems like that would work any advice would be helpful

We cleaned our 4x12 with one gal of milk stone remover, pans filled as full as possible with water and left soaking for a couple weeks. Solution could be a little stronger, perhaps 11/2 to 2 gal, but for the most part it worked good.

Whey would also work,or you could dilute milk wth water to make a whey like solution

I used some phosphoric acid. I let it soak over night and when i came back in the morning they were practically clean. All I had to do was nutralize the acid with baking soda and power wash them.

I'd say be careful. Even if your solder is lead free it may contain tin. Someone ruined a whole lot of syrup cleaning tin pans with phosphoric acid this season. See this discussion....
