I finally got the pads poured and set up the evaporator. I still have not done a test boil.

Here is the inside of the airtight door, and the grates. The bricks are only dry-fitted at this time.

Is A&A the manufacturer?

Yes out of Ulysses, Pa and sold through Ray Gingerich at Deer Run Maple in Orwell, Ohio. If you do a search there is quite a bit written about A&A Metal.

Looks nice. Isn't Ray Gingerich a good man to deal with? I liked the way he does business, he made my RO, good man! Now you need to do that test boil. Congrats!!.

Yes Ray is a good, honest person. I hopefully will purchase one of his ROs in the future.

Jason,
That is a great looking rig hope it boils as good as it looks.
I have a design in my head to improve the front hood steam venting if you ever need it!
Not on here much so you could email me.
Regards,
Chris

Dave,

What can be more exciting than watching water boil?:) I did a test boil last summer with water. I wanted to check for leaks and see if I was going to get the anticipated boil rate. I found a major leak in the preheater and made some adjustments to the fire box and forced air to get a good rate. I didn't want to try that stuff with sap waiting to be boiled.

I occasionally drive through Sligo on trips to Butler or Clarion. If possible, I'd like to stop in for a visit. I enjoy seeing others set ups and talking maple. PM me if you'd like.
