kevin, is the seal made by the vacum pulling against the second barb on the connector or the pull of the lateral on the first barb? Any hook or strain relief on the wire?

It does sound good if it would always work. You need to try it with several of them and let us know how it works. Do you think it would work under pressure for washing as well as under vaccuume. It does seem like the saddles strap or tie on real secure. I am not sure if this idea would last over a couple years of washing.
It is well worth the experiment though. I might be persuaded to try one myself.

There was a guy here a couple years ago , he was driving a mercedes, not an old clunker either, picking up some supplys , said he'd never spend $2.bucks for a saddle , he drilled several pilot holes with different sizes drills to find a tight fit for the 5/16'' tubing into the mainline. He'd drill a hole and stick the tubing in. And the sap would flow . He certainly wouldn't payout for a vacum so it worked for him.

Kevin thanks for the offer, I'll remember the saddles should anyone ask, I'm sure someone here will take them off your hands.
