candy machine rpm

How fast should the worm turn? I have a reduction motor that is rated at 1/6 hp and 16 rpms. I built the trough out of 18 ga stainless and am now in search of some stainless rod to make the worm out of. I am thinking either 1/8 or 3/16 diamater rod would work?

Mike,your rpm will be waaaaaay too slow.Our Waterloo Small came with a 30 rpm motor,sent it back to get it changed to a 60 rpm motor,candy would set in the trough before it could get out in the mold.
