Birch Syrup

I was just wondering if anybody has ever made any birch syrup. I understand that it's more an Alaskan thing but was just thought that maybe somebody has tried to make some. I have had a taste before and it tastes alot like molasses. If you have made it before I would just like to know what some of the differences are between making it and normal syrup.
