Does anyone know how to make maple flakes? I saw that they sell them at williams-sonoma for $11.95 for 1.6 oz. They must be lots of work to make them or just a realy big profit. I have looked all over online trying to find out how to make them but still no ideas.

They look slightly thicker than what I scraped out of the bowl after I made maple walnuts, without the nut bits. Perhaps it's scraped out of the bowl after making molded sugar?

I think they're made by dehydrating syrup in a flat tray.

Thanks, I will try some tonight our oven has a dehydrator button on it. I think it sets the temp at 120f. Thanks again!! I will let everyone know how they turn out.

Pretty sure it's freeze dryed not dehydrated. The equipment is very pricey.

Thanks mapleack, I think your right. The maple syrup in the dehydrator did not work well at all!!! just turned to large chuncks of sugar crystal.
