only as many as needed to do the fire box, no need to do entire arch, waste of money, install fire blanket instead keep the heat in where it belongs

thank you very much.
not being a SA, just figure where you will load wood, find square inches and then divide that by the brick size. Put 2600 deg blanket against wall of arch then brick the fire box and then another layer 2600 every where else. Some people use arch board.

Maplekid if it is a Leader arch you can e-mail the guys at Leader and they will send you the diagram for layout of the bricks and recommendations for lining under your drop flues. Brick layout is basically the same on all arch framework brands. Nice summer project!

Nate if you have a 4x10 small Bros lightning drop flue with a 6ft flue pan and 4 ft syrup pan. I have one i am parting out. The bricking is a fun summer job as someone stated I completely bricked mine with full bricks (they were free) except for the sides near the pans. make sure you allow clearance for the drop flues to clear all bricks as I got carried away and had to trim some with a diamond blade grinder. Have fun!!

hmmm... the one your parting out... does it have pans on it? and would you sell them? i have a 4x5 leader front pan and was planning on building a 4x5 drop flue pan. (family is in the stainless steel industry) but the lightning arch actually started out as a 4x14 ft evap. had to cut it down. whats your avg evap rate? and how many taps could i handle? thanks in advance

Maplekid you should be able to handle 2000 taps easily...just have to boil longer thats all.
