Well I was done plowing my food plot field and I heard a Tom gobble in the woods. So I went in the house and grabbed my diaphragm call and decided to have some fun and call him in even though I can't hunt until May 7th...sure hope I can repeat this in May...

I know that but he's the youngin there's a few bigger Toms around...I've never actually called one in so I had to try. He didn't see me and turned around and left without being spooked. When there's a hen decoy he'll still come...

Yep whether you realize it or not you educated him. If he is hanging with those other Toms when you have your gun in your hand if that bird freezes up so will the others. Biggest suggestion I have at this point is go buy another call and dont use it till season is open.

I have 5 other different Diaphram calls, 2 different box call and a slate call. So I just won't show off my talents on cam anymore until I can have my gun in my hand and I won't use that call!

Me too!

I always wait for the late season cause it's a month long and the calling never seems to work...That's why I grabbed the camera and call with no gun...Just to see if it works or not...LOL!

Even if I don't get one calling him in made my Season already!

I dont use calls anymore too many guys do this same thing year after year. I just use a pile of corn and a exploding target and of course my 7 mag. I wait until the whole flock of corn, soybean, acorn eating rats are around the corn i let a round fly and then i go to the store and buy a good butterball that is eatable for dinner. Turkeys were eradicated from these parts once for a reason..... they are as destructive as rats.

LMAO if you call that bird back in with the same call there is only one reason for it............... You practiced and practiced and now you actually sound like a turkeyl. just messing with you have fun chasing 2 legged rats.

LOL I hear ya there Rusty!

as for sirsapsalot...I don't call that hunting...and if you ever took the time to see what was actually eating the crops you'd probally see coons at night and groundhogs by day...as I never see Turkeys eat standing corn and when they come around and peck at my Deer Bait if I even use it the deer aren't far behind...

Just kidding, no i am not a turkey hunter i am a farmer and i have damage every spring from turkeys far worse than woodchucks and coons. Turkeys walk down the corn rows in the spring and pluck out newly emerging corn to eat the seed ( which is treated with fungicides and insecticides and is extremely poisonous ). Don, I have personally watched a flock of turkeys wipe out 20-30 acres of corn that cost me 700.00 per acre to plant you do the math. BTH somthing that eats garbage or poisonous food is not going on my dinner table.

I have alot of Turkeys around here and plant about 1/4 acre of corn and they never touch it. But I do have an acre of clover and chicory that Turkeys and the deer love and they leave the corn alone.

But I do feel for ya! Crop Damage from wild animals is a real problem. Don't know where you are in Michigan but if you need a hunter to help you with some deer or Turkeys if you're close enough I'll help out!

If we worried about every thing "BAD" that animals eat then we wouldn't eat or drink anything! There's pollution and pesticides and poisons all around us because we people as a whole don't care enough to be more careful!

Once they figure out whats at the end of that fresh corn shoot you wont have a corn plot.:( I am in the UP, you are more than welcome to hunt here BUT you can only shoot a hen, tom's dont rear large clutches of flying rats.
