Vacuum tank site gauge

I'm setting up a 400 gal vacuum tank for 2013 season,is their a way to set up a site gauge? Can I use a clear hose like on a head tank,I can plug free end to hold vac,it will probably collapse but will it give me an idea on sap level? Any comments or suggestions. Thanks Jim

The top end would need to be plumbed back into the top of the tank. If you use a "milk" type hose it should not collapse under vac.
