The Ontario Maple Syrup Producer's Association has published an article on their web-site regarding different styles of sap ladders and their effectiveness. Here's the link:

The tests were done Wheeler's Maple which is located about 3 miles (as the crow flies) north of our bush. Wheeler's are one of if not the biggest producer in Ontario with about 17,000 taps.
