How much oil do you go through a season on a 3 X 10

We finish on a 3x8 Small Brothers Crossfire equipped with a Carlin 601 . It burns about 5 GPH. Not bad when it was purchased in 1995 and fuel was around .65/gallon. Thinking of retiring next year, with fuel prices continuing to climb.

Convert to wood pellets. I did the calculations you would only use between 150 and 250 bags of woodpellets a season. Pay some young kid to load them into a hopper and youll be good.

Do you know of any plans for building a conversion to wood pellets? I'm thinking about looking into doing this on a 3x8

A friend of mine wanted to put a pellergy burner on my evaporator but it shoots too much fuel. He is part owner of a business called Pellergy out of Montpelier, VT. They have built burners that you can bolt to your oil furnace and make them into a pellet furnace. They're pretty cool but the btu's for my arch are more than what they have now, I'd have to put like 3 or 4 burners on it, so it wasn't worth it at this time. It is just a matter of time before someone does it with a smaller evaporator, its the way of the future.

Not exactly the same, but I run 2 keystoker K6 burners from Keystoker Hard Coal Boilers on my arch.
Found them for sale and adapter my arch. If you could find these, or any burner from an anthracite furnace/boiler they would work. I burn anthracite coal, but they do work with cherry pits and would work with pellets I imagine. Nice thing is they have a blower and a feed mechanism. My $.02
