like i said ive always been on the under standing of the sugar % will drop at the end of the season. ????? can any one reasure me on this.my sap is reading 2 its a little cloudy but not bad. keep going with it or throw in the towel.

Sugar content will vary through the season. I had mine go as low as 1% after a good run and then go back up to 1.8% on the last run. Boil it, if it makes good syrup keep going and if it doesn't pull the plug.

I would think 2 isn't too low. I would also think a little cloudy is ok, given the time of year. Maybe boil it up quick. Here in Cornville most of the sap is still clear, testing 2.4, tastes good and doesn't smell bad while boiling. But the buds are swelling and I'm wondering the same thing, how long can we go? The forecast looks good for the next few days and nights. At this point the budding doesn't seem to be spoiling the sap. I wonder if anyone knows when the sap will turn.
