Is it possible to have ropey syrup that tastes great? The syrup I made from boiling down the flu pan contents seems to be ropey, I'm not sure but it pours more like slime than syrup. It is cold (38 deg F) and I believe way over density so i will check that when it warms up. It tastes great so if it is ropey can I still eat it? It's about three gallons I could call it my private reserve.

I've done that before with stuff that sat in the pans for a while, it tasted fine but was ropey like that and absolutely could not be filtered. I guess if you can get yours filtered I would save it.

I warmed it up and at 60 deg F the fat part of the hydrometer wouldn't sink. I adjusted the density and filtered through cheese cloth. It seems fine now, I will keep it for my family.

Yuk...I wouldn't eat it.
