Have the bulk syrup prices started to reflect the short season most experienced? What are the buyers paying?

2.80 light/medium, 2.70 dark, 2.50 B at Bascom. I think this is what I was told.

What happens in Quebec is what determines the bulk prices even here in the US. Our bad season has no effect on what the bulk prices will be. That being said I read that the federation is raising the bulk prices by 3%.

There was a good discussion on WDEV on Tuesday with Burr Morse about the season, and he didn't think prices would move very much. They only made 400 gallons on 3500 taps, but were staying the same as far as pricing in their retail store. He predicted the larger bulk producers would be the ones taking it on the chin. Prices moved a lot a few years ago and they just aren't ready to jump again any time soon. I heard the same pricing from Bascoms this week, commercial has stayed the same at $2/lb probably because there will be a lot of it.
