i built this evaporator out of a 55 gallon barrel for my first year and boiled of only about 2 pints on 6 taps,i burnt my first batch the second batch wasn't boiled enough and the 3 rd turned into sugar but the last batch came out just right http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z344/niclperrone/IMG_4836.jpg

By the looks of your pan, I would say you are officially a sugar maker....welcome to the CLUB !!!

yeah burnt my first batch,i didnt really have enough sap to boil and it burnt in 1 hour while i was distracted making smores over the fire haha

This is a lesson you will never forget. Once you clean a pan that has burned you pay special attention to it the next time you boil. Good luck Lee

I got distracted yesterday while replying to a twit on another forum who doesnt have any respect for our soldiers. I couldnt let that slide and was hammering away on the keyboard while finishing in a small pan. when I went to check it was boiled over and lost at least a quart on the porch floor. GRRR..

No more internet while boiling!!
