Today I ran across a article on the theft of four drums of syrup in Franklin County Vermont. http://www.wggb.com/2012/03/20/vermont-sugar-house-loses-thousands-after-maple-syrup-theft/ This is the first time I've heard of this happening this year, although I did see a few mentions of it on the forum last year. I'm not sure as to how accurate this article is as it states that the 160 gallons he lost was his entire crop, he has 13,000 taps so it must really be a terrible year, and the video appeared to show many full barrels of syrup in the sugar house. Also it stared that the 160 gallons he lost was valued at $7000. That works out to just over $43/ gallon, will someone please put me in contact with this wholesaler, as I have never heard of bulk being sold for this price!
