Hi all,
Well, looks like this is it for the year. I got a whole whopping 4 gallons of sap (yup, sap, not syrup!) - quite a bust. Oh well, as much as anything this first year was a time to figure out the ropes...Plus it hopefully was an unusually bad winter. With my north facing slope there was no sap running until just a couple of weeks ago, and then it warmed up way too quickly, with 60 degree temperatures at night.
Anyways. I am wondering if there is something I need to know about pulling taps so I don't damage the trees? Do I need to put something in the whole to help it heal?
