I have an sp11 surge piston style vacuum pump. How many inches of vacuum should it be able to pull?

With mine running around 350 RPM on a gas engine and 200 taps, I can have 24-25 at the pump if the leaks are looked after..

I cant personnally speak for an sp11, but I've got an sp22 thats been running for 5 days straight now and pulling 24-25 on the releaser. This is on 1000 taps, so I know my system is tight,as these things dont pull really high cfm. At that vac level, they seem to make more fog than if I backed it down under 20, but a half a quart a day seems to cover it. Also, overheating seems to be more of a function of rpms than the vac level.

21 or 22 inches seems to be what mine run at. more than that and mine get too hot.

I have a sp 11 running on a 400 tap bush. As stated by wdchuck, overheating in my expierience seems to be more of an rpm issue than a vac level issue. I run atleast 25" at the releaser with no heat problems. It gets warm, but I have never seen it get so warm to the point I cant put my hand on the dome top. On a good tight system these are good little pumps, as is the case with most of the surge piston style pumps.
