Any idea how to remove burnt sap from a boiling pot.

you can search this topic, probably search for "burnt pan" or "pan cleaning". In short, I think folks let pans sit for a few hours in vinegar and hot water - or baking soda and hot water. It should come off with a perhaps a little bit of effort after that.

Yep, white vinegar!

I use (green) scotch bright pads, hot water and a lot of rub and scrub
