It is early, way early, but no freeze = no sap = end of season. I'm pretty sure we are finished for the season as of yesterday.
We're still on the cold side of the front, but this weekend ends it. We are going to see 60's until late next week. I think we'll pull this weekend, or maybe the next.
It was short, but sweet.

Pulling taps this weekend too... very short season. Glad I tapped way early, still boiling my now unfrozen sap. Will be making some very dark syrup, but I will get some at least. Already planning for next year with this just finished evap ( fired up yesterday ). We had 3ft of snow this time last year... talk about a change ! :o

My last boil will be tonight. Can't believe it is over on march 15th. Total season span was two weeks! Wish I had tapped the second week of feb this year! First time I have lots of wood left over!

Hung taps on February 14 - boiled just twice, may be lucky to can a gallon. Pulling taps tomorrow. Worst season in 46 years.

I agree, the vacuum stays on until opening day at the Road, I will let you boil it in Marcel.

Interesting to see fellow sugarmakers and then to see fellow T-Road friends. I dont know if I have turn any laps with you 802 but I have turn a few with Marcel. Iam also going until it will not go threw the press. Commercial will bring more then 2.00 a lb. We have to keep pulling. Going to process another 4000 gallons of sap today.

Ants, sugar moths, more drowned mice in buckets than I have ever seen, all in mid March. Not good. Looked back at a friend's grandfather's surgaring log book that goes back about 70 years, nothing like this.
