I don't want to brag about the new shack, but after cooking under a lean for 11 years I'm really happy about where we are at now.

Timber framing and syrup making sure seem to go hand in hand. From nature comes a sturdy building and a sweet reward for all the hard work! In one of the pics you will see the crew with a "Whetting Bush" atop the frame. There are many versions of the reason for the bush. I subscribe to this one that makes most sense to me. The Whetting Bush symbolizes that no building should be taller than the tree it came from! The bush also says thanks to a great crew - what a fun project.

Thanks everybody for the compliments and a big thank you to Dobiehill for being a great crew leader. We are still holding a little hope that the weather will cool down after next week. The sugerbush is all hard maples, has some north slopes and still has snow on the ground.
