any one have an idea of how much sap i need to run through my 3x8 befor i can have my first draw off.ive run about 130gal through it now. my pan depth is two inchs. in the front part of the syrup pan looks really nice ,smells nice i just cant get the temp up.
how many taps should i put out for that size.whats the max number of tap for that size evap? any info would help.

It took almost 250 on my 2x6 so I'm guessing yours might need 300-350.

I had to put 160-170 gallons into my 2x4 before I got anything out, and that was running 1 1/4"

My 3x10 takes about 400 gallons of sap to push the first syrup out.

I can easily handle 750 gravity taps on my 3x10 with a good sap run taking 5-6 hours of boiling, but my taps are mostly woods trees w/ small crowns.

You should be able to evaporate 75-80 gal/hour.
