I tapped this weekend, now it's going to be 60s-70 all week. It's a race to better weather between the tap holes drying and the trees budding. How long will these taps keep running?

I have not yet tapped and will not untill I see a freezing temp in the forecast. I put out a dozen taps and buckets last week and not a drop of sap. I live in Taylors Falls, MN. It is shaping up to be worse than 2005.

In 2005, the season we retapped all our pipeline system, i think around a weeks worth of warm weather pretty much gunked the holes shut. (it might have been a bit less, can't remember). We didn't retap our bags just for the simple fact the taps were 7/16ths. ( pipeline was all 5/16ths). It was unreal the diff. in yield between the fresh holes and the old ones, in fact when we pulled the old bag taps, alot of them had a shade of greyish /black in them. They dripped a little after the hot spell but the droplets were real small. So i would say a weeks worth of heat reduces the yield big time.
