Have to go through the bog to get to the sugar maples on the high ground, but I have a better trail than this one. I slowed up to show a my nephew a tree that had some jugs on it and grounded out.
Image that same picture with a 33 horse 4 wheel drive tractor. Good thing I have a neighbor with a bigger tractor and a few hundred feet of cable

Mud got me in a different way. I slid about a foot and jammed this stick in the foglight while backing up to gather sap. Don't ask me how, but it took 2 of us about 15 minutes to get it out. We were boiling and getting low and my husband was waiting on the 300 gallons on my truck....never plan for anything to take as long as expected- a curve is always thrown!

Yep...made it out. I guess I forgot to take those pics lol. The other Ranger winched me backwards 30 or 40 feet and got me out. Then my buddy took off on the trail and got stuck further down the way and I had to go pull him out lol.

Seems like we spend more time stuck or fixing equipment than we do actually collecting or boiling. Although I do like the adventure. Everyday has new challenges.
Thank goodness for winches...

I'll second that on the winches. They should be standard equipment, not an option.
