Molasses?

This has been a wierd boil. I haven't drawn off for hours. Both sides of the pan (I have a divided 1 1/2 x 2 pan) are real dark and it smells really sweet like molasses. The hydrometer just lays on the bottom. Seems like it started acting funny about mid afternoon. Anybody experienced this? Any thoughts?

As soon as I posted this my computer said the site was down so I am just now replying. We just shut it down and will finish the batch on the turkey fryer it see what it does, clean up and finish boiling the rest of the sap. I appreciate the buddy sap comment but am surprised. It is my first time doing this though and it is all new, but something is definately different today.
